Specify performance grade, UV stable, mildew resistant fabrics rated for outdoor use, and plan for quick drying foam in any cushion exposed to rain. Powder coated and marine grade finishes on frames resist the corrosion and fading that humidity and salt accelerate. These are not places to economize on a luxury project, because they are the elements clients touch and see every day.
In a hurricane prone region, weight, anchoring, and serviceability matter. Shade structures should carry real wind ratings, and the most considered systems are engineered to be secured or struck efficiently when a storm approaches. Furniture that can be moved or stored, and structures with replaceable parts, protect the investment over the long term.
